LIFE is an European Union funding programme that supports environmental and nature conservation projects throughout the EU. It is the only European Union funding programme that targets only the environment and since it started in 1992, it has co-financed nearly 4000 projects, contributing approximately €3.1 billion to the protection of the environment.


Help and Support

BetaEurope is a free and confidential support service for the LIFE Programme in the UK, run by Beta Technology, the UK LIFE National Contact Point on behalf of Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs).

09/01/14 - The new LIFE Regulation has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The Regulation establishes the Environment and Climate Action sub-programmes of the LIFE Programme for the next funding period, 2014–2020. The budget for the period is set at €3.4 billion in current prices.
